New cooperative-run art spaceBy :

"It`s for everything that can be called Art", says Mizuki Endou, of "Art Space Tetra", a new contemporary-art space that plans to open as an arts co-operative in April. Endou, also the editor of rhythm magazine (and go-fubar columnist) is co-founder of Tetra with Takasumi Abe, one of Fukuoka`s rising young contemporary artists and a recent artist-intern at WarehouseNo3 arts incubator down in dockland. Abe will run the venture, which will initially be sponsored by its members, who include artists, designers, editors and producers. Member artists will produce 3 or 4 exhibitions a year, but the space will always be available for rent so there are likely to be additional exhibitions and live events.
This is a welcome addition to the Fukuoka arts scene, which has been lacking a wholly independent co-op style arts space run by artists themselves. We will bring you more information when it opens.
